Emotional Energy, Reflection, and Archiving#

1. What is Emotional Control#

Energy management coach Zhu Guang used a flashlight as an analogy: there is a flashlight (focus) in our brain, wherever the flashlight shines, it consumes our energy (attention resources, willpower resources, emotional resources, etc.). When we need to restore energy, we need to redirect the flashlight elsewhere, so that the energy consumption can be restored.

Why did I always emphasize controlling my emotions in high school? Because my biggest task at that time was to prepare for the college entrance examination, and most of my "energy" was devoted to preparing for it. Excessive negative or other emotions would deepen my emotional exhaustion and hinder my focus on the established tasks.

James Clear mentioned, "The important thing is not to ask yourself, 'What can I do when I'm in a good state?'" The real question should be, 'What can I do to persevere even on the worst days?'"

It is impossible for us to always maintain positive and high emotions. Emotional management for me is not just about prolonging and strengthening positive emotions, but also about being able to effectively self-regulate and relax when negative emotions strike.

2. Interesting Project#

Baidu AI Drawing

The drawing effect of this project ranks high among AI drawing projects, and the Corgi it draws is particularly cute.

3. Reflection and Summary: Project Archiving#

A friend told me that she has been busy with work and studying recently, and she doesn't have time for me to reflect and focus on reading.
Why do we need to "reflect" and "read"?
The former is to find experiences from our own past, and the latter is to find experiences from others.

But do we really not have time?
A passage in "Maybe You Should Talk to Someone" describes a common state of modern people:

I found that whenever people feel lonely, they pick up a device to escape this feeling. This usually happens in the gap between two things, such as at the end of a therapy session, waiting for a red light, waiting to check out at the cash register, or riding an elevator. People are in a state of constant distraction, seemingly losing the ability to be with others and losing the ability to be with themselves.

In addition to our desire for instant gratification brought by the modern internet and social media, electronic screens not only fill the gaps of boredom, but also deprive us of the opportunity to have a real conversation with ourselves. When we open electronic devices, the screen is filled with other people's lives and other people's worlds, and all the information is teaching us how to live, how to live so-called refined and elegant lives, but there is no space for us to have a dialogue with ourselves and face ourselves.

Sigh, I'm not feeling too good this week, so I'll just post it first. If I continue to procrastinate, it will be next week.
